Removal Procedure

  1. Mark the location of the hinges (upper and lower) on the door.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  4. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the inside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
  6. Remove the energy absorber pad. Refer to Rear Door Energy Absorber Pad Replacement .
  7. Remove the window inner belt seal strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement .
  8. Remove the window outer belt seal strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .
  9. Remove the door window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement .
  10. Remove the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
  11. Remove the stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window and Front Channel Replacement .
  12. Remove the door frame applique. Refer to Rear Door Frame Applique Replacement .
  13. Remove the door bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement .
  14. Remove the front window run channel. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Front Channel Replacement .
  15. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  16. Remove the door latch. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .
  17. Remove the upper auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Side Door Upper Auxiliary Weatherstrip Replacement .

  18. Object Number: 449396  Size: SH
  19. Insert a small flat bladed tool between the door wire harness conduit (2) and the hinge pillar in order to depress and release the tab (3) on the door wiring harness connector.

  20. Object Number: 441819  Size: SH
  21. Remove the door wire harness from the hinge pillar.
  22. Disconnect the door wiring harness from the body wiring harness.

  23. Object Number: 469426  Size: SH
  24. Disconnect the wiring harness clips (2) from the door panel.
  25. Remove the rubber conduit and wiring harness (1) from the door.
  26. Remove the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement .

  27. Object Number: 449396  Size: SH
  28. Remove the intermediate hinge fasteners (1) from both hinges.
  29. Lift the door to remove.
  30. Remove the door hinges. Refer to Rear Side Door Hinge Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the door hinges to the pillar and the door. Refer to Rear Side Door Hinge Replacement .
  2. Align the door hinge halves.
  3. Lower the door so the hinge halves mate together.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Apply Loctite® Blue, GM P/N 12345382, or Canadian P/N 10953489, or equivalent to the intermediate door hinge bolts.
  6. Install the intermediate door hinge bolts to the hinge.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate front door hinge bolts (1) to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the door check link. Refer to Door Check Link Replacement .
  9. Touch up any paint damage to the hinge and the check link fasteners with body color paint.

  11. Route the door wiring harness (1) and conduit into the door.
  12. Snap the wiring harness clips (2) into the door panel.

  14. Connect the door wiring harness to the body wiring harness.
  15. Snap the wire harness connectors into the hinge pillar.
  16. Install the upper auxiliary weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Side Door Upper Auxiliary Weatherstrip Replacement .
  17. Install the door latch. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .
  18. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  19. Install the front window run channel. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Front Channel Replacement .
  20. Install the door bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement .
  21. Install the door frame applique. Refer to Rear Door Frame Applique Replacement .
  22. Install the stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window and Front Channel Replacement .
  23. Install the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
  24. Install the door window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement .
  25. Install the window outer belt seal strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Outer Sealing Strip Replacement .
  26. Install the window inner belt seal strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement .
  27. Install the energy absorber pad. Refer to Rear Door Energy Absorber Pad Replacement .
  28. Install the inside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
  29. Check the door for proper adjustment. Refer to Door Adjustment .
  30. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  31. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  32. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
