Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 428637  Size: SH
  5. Cut the push in fasteners that retain the inner energy absorber to the door.
  6. Remove the inner energy absorber.

  7. Object Number: 441771  Size: SH
  8. Remove the lower rear door quarter panel energy absorber (1).
  9. 6.1. Remove the fastener.
    6.2. Tilt the absorber outward.
    6.3. Lift to remove.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 441771  Size: SH
  1. Install the lower rear door quarter panel energy absorber bracket (2) into the hole in the door.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fastener.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 2 N·m (18 lb in)

  5. Install the inner energy absorber to the door with new push-in fasteners.
  6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  7. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  8. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
