Gauge System Check

Using a scan tool, establish communications with the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

    • The scan tool is able to communicate with the IPC.
    • No IPC DTC are stored.

Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

The IPC is able to perform a full sweep test (minimum to maximum) on all of the following gauges:

    • Speedometer
    • Tachometer
    • Oil Pressure
    • Fuel
    • Battery Voltage
    • Coolant Temperature
  1. Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System
  2. Instrument Cluster Replacement

Using a scan tool, select IPC special functions and perform the gauge sweep test on each of the following gauges:

    • Speedometer
    • Tachometer
    • Oil Pressure
    • Fuel
    • Battery Voltage
    • Coolant Temperature

The scan tool is able to perform a full sweep test (minimum to maximum) on all of the following gauges:

    • Speedometer
    • Tachometer
    • Oil Pressure
    • Fuel
    • Battery Voltage
    • Coolant Temperature

Instrument Cluster Replacement

  1. Idle the engine and monitor the analog gauges on the instrument cluster.
  2. Test drive the vehicle as needed.

The following gauges display the correct information:

    • Speedometer
    • Tachometer
    • Oil Pressure
    • Fuel
    • Battery Voltage
    • Coolant Temperature

Refer to the applicable abnormal results table for intermittent gage malfunctions.

    •  Tachometer Inoperative

Using the buttons on the DIC, press and release GAGE button to scroll through the different gauge displays.

The following DIC gauges display the correct information:

    • Oil Pressure
    • Oil Temperature
    • Coolant Temperate
    • Trans Fluid Temperature (Auto Trans)
    • Battery Voltage
    • Front Tire Pressure (Must Drive Vehicle)
    • Rear Tire Pressure (Must Drive Vehicle)
