Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the IPC.

Does the scan tool communicate with the IPC?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Using a scan tool, select IPC data display and monitor Ignition 1 voltage.
  2. Start the engine.

Is the scan tool able to display correct Ignition 1 voltage?

Compare the IPC Ignition 1 voltage data display on the scan tool with the voltage gauge display.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the voltage gauge display?

Within .5 Volt

System OK

Go to Step 5

Using a scan tool, select IPC special functions and re-calibrate the voltage gauge.

Was the voltage gauge able to re-calibrated successfully?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Check for an open or short in the IPC IGN 1 circuit (CKT 139).

Was a problem found and repaired?

--

Go to Step 8

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the repair complete?
