Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the PCM.

Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM?

Is a DTC P0500, P0502, P0503, or P0608 stored in the PCM?

Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the IPC.

Does the scan tool communicate with the IPC?

Go to Step 5

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Using a scan tool, select IPC data display and monitor vehicle speed.
  2. Test drive the vehicle as needed.

Is the scan tool able to display correct vehicle speed?

Go to Step 6

Compare the IPC vehicle speed data display on the scan tool with the speedometer gauge display.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the speedometer?

Within 4.8 km/h

  1. Using a scan tool, select PCM data display and monitor vehicle speed.
  2. Test drive the vehicle as needed.

Is the scan tool able to display correct vehicle speed?

Locate and repair open or short in CKT 817.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the repair complete?
