Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the PCM.

Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM?

Is a DTC P1114 or P1115 stored in the PCM?

Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the IPC.

Does the scan tool communicate with the IPC?

Go to Step 5

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Using a scan tool, select IPC data display and monitor engine coolant temperature (ECT).
  2. Start the engine.

Is the scan tool able to display correct engine coolant temperature (ECT)?

Go to Step 6

Compare the IPC engine coolant temperature (ECT) data display on the scan tool with the coolant temperature (ECT) gauge display.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the coolant temperature display?

Within 15°C

(15°F)

System OK

Go to Step 8

  1. Using a scan tool, select PCM data display and monitor engine coolant temperature (ECT).
  2. Start the engine.

Is the scan tool able to display correct engine coolant temperature (ECT)?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the repair complete?
