Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the PCM.

Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM?

Is a DTC P0654 stored in the PCM?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check

Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the IPC.

Does the scan tool communicate with the IPC?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Using a scan tool, select IPC data display and monitor engine RPM.
  2. Start the engine.

Is the scan tool able to display correct engine RPM?

--

Go to Step 6

Compare the IPC engine RPM data display on the scan tool with the tachometer gauge display.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the tachometer?

Within 500 RPM

System OK

Go to Step 9

  1. Using a scan tool, select PCM data display and monitor engine RPM.
  2. Start the engine.

Is the scan tool able to display correct engine RPM?

Locate and repair open or short in CKT 121.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Go to Step 10

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the repair complete?
