Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the IPC.

Does the scan tool communicate with the IPC?

Is a DTC B1542 or B1543 stored in the IPC?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

Using a scan tool, select IPC data display and monitor engine oil temperature.

Is the scan tool able to display correct engine oil temperature?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Compare the IPC engine oil temperature data display on the scan tool with the engine oil temperature display on the DIC.

Does the scan tool display correspond with the engine oil temperature display on the DIC?

Within 10°C

System OK

Go to Step 7

Replace the engine oil temperature sensor. Refer to Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Replacement.

Is the replacement complete?

Replace the IPC assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the repair complete?
