  1. Remove the key from the ignition lock key cylinder.
  2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  3. Observe all of the door locks while you press the following positions on the driver's door lock switch:
  4. • LOCK
    • UNLOCK
  5. Observe all of the door locks while you press the following positions on the passenger's door lock switch:
  6. • LOCK
    • UNLOCK

All of the doors lock and unlock when you press either door lock switch.

The following steps test the lockout prevention feature:

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Completely lower all of the vehicle windows.
  3. Insert the key into the ignition key lock cylinder.
  4. Leave the ignition in the OFF position.

  5. Open the driver's door.
  6. Press LOCK on the door lock switch and observe the door locks.
  7. Close the driver's door.
  8. Open the left rear door.
  9. Reach through the driver's window opening and press the lock on the door switch. Observe the door locks.
  10. Open the right front door.
  11. Press the lock on the door lock switch and observe the door locks.
  12. Close the right front door.
  13. Open the right rear door.
  14. Reach through the right front window opening and press the lock on the door switch. Observe the door locks.

The doors do not lock if the following conditions exist:

    • You press LOCK on either door lock switch.
    • The key is in the ignition key lock cylinder.
    • A door is open.

The following steps test the lockout prevention override feature:

  1. Open the driver's door.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition key lock cylinder.
  3. Leave the ignition switch in the OFF position.

  4. Observe the door locks while you complete the following actions:
  5. • Press the driver's door lock switch.
    • Hold the switch for 3 seconds.
  6. Press the driver's door lock switch in order to unlock the doors.
  7. Close the driver's door.
  8. Open the right front door.
  9. Press the passenger door lock switch 2 times. Observe the door locks.
    • All of the doors lock when the following conditions exist:
       - The key is in the ignition.
       - You hold the driver's door lock switch for 3 seconds.
    • All of the doors lock when the following conditions exist:
       - The key is in the ignition.
       - You hold the passenger's door lock switch 2 times, for 3 seconds each time.

The following steps test the ignition OFF feature:

  1. Set the automatic door lock door locks feature customization to mode 3. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Press and firmly hold the brake pedal.
  4. Shift the transaxle out of PARK.
  5. Shift the transaxle into PARK.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and observe the door locks.

All of the doors unlock when you turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

The following steps test the shift into PARK unlock and lock features:

  1. Set the automatic door locks feature customization to mode 4.
  2. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .
  3. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  4. Verify that all of the doors are unlocked.
  5. Press and firmly hold the brake pedal.
  6. Start the engine.
  7. Shift the transaxle out of PARK and observe the door locks.
  8. Stop the engine.
    • All of the doors lock when you shift the transaxle out of PARK.
    • All of the doors unlock when you shift the transaxle into PARK.

The following steps test the last door lock feature:

  1. Set the locking control feature customization to mode 4.
  2. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Lower all of the vehicle windows.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder.
  6. Step out of the vehicle.
  7. Ensure that the driver's door is open and that all of the passenger's doors are closed.
  8. Press LOCK on the driver's door lock switch. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
  9. Close the driver's door.
  10. Open the left rear door within 5 seconds after closing the driver's door. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
  11. Close the left rear door.
  12. Wait for 5 seconds. Observe the door locks during this time.
  13. Unlock and open the right front door.
  14. Press LOCK on the door lock switch. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
  15. Close the right front door.
  16. Within 5 seconds, open the right rear door. Allow the chime to sound 3 times.
  17. Close the right rear door.
  18. Wait for 5 seconds. Observe the door locks during this time.

All of the doors lock 5 seconds after the last door is closed when the following conditions exist:

    • You press the lock on either door lock switch.
    • The key is not inserted into the ignition key lock cylinder.

The following steps test the key cylinder unlock feature. This feature is available on vehicles equipped with the content theft deterrent RPO UA6:

  1. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  2. Close and lock all of the vehicle doors.
  3. Insert the key into the driver's door key cylinder lock.
  4. Rotate the key in order to unlock the door.
  5. Observe the door lock and hold the key in the unlock position for 1 second.
  6. Close and lock all of the vehicle doors.
  7. Insert the key into the passenger door key cylinder lock.
  8. Rotate the key in order to unlock the door.
  9. Observe the door locks and hold the key in the unlock position for 1 second.

All of the doors unlock when you rotate either one of the door key cylinders to the unlock position for 1 second.
