Set the locking control to mode 3. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .

Is the locking mode set to mode 3?

Go to Step 4

  1. Close all the vehicle doors.
  2. Ensure the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Open and then close all of the vehicle doors. Perform this step one door at a time.

Did the courtesy lamps turn ON with the door open and then OFF with all of the doors closed?

  1. Ensure the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Ensure all of the doors are closed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch from the RUN position to the OFF position.
  4. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder while observing the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps turn ON?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Lower all of the vehicle windows.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  4. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  5. Step out of the vehicle.
  6. Ensure all of the passenger doors are closed except the drivers door.
  7. Press the lock on the drivers door lock switch. Listen for 3 chimes.
  8. Close the drivers door.
  9. Within 5 seconds, open the left rear door. Listen for 3 chimes.
  10. Close the left rear door.
  11. Wait for 5 seconds while observing the door locks.
  12. Unlock and open the right front door.
  13. Press the lock on the door lock switch. Listen for 3 chimes.
  14. Close the right front door.
  15. Wait 5 seconds, open the right rear door. listen for 3 chimes.
  16. Close the right rear door.
  17. Wait 5 seconds while observing the door locks.
  18. Ensure there is no key in the ignition key lock cylinder.
  19. Press the lock on either door lock switch in order to ensure all the doors lock 5 seconds after the last door is closed.

Do the doors lock as described above?

Inspect the last door lock feature for a problem due to a malfunction between the BCM and the door lock ajar switches. Refer to Interior Lamps System Check in Lighting Systems.

Inspect the last door lock feature for a problem due to a malfunction between the BCM and the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Audible Warnings System Check in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the lockout prevention feature.
  2. Ensure the lockout prevention feature is operating correctly. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the BCM connectors for poor terminal contact.
  2. If the connectors are good, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors.
  3. Reinstall the components.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  7. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM chimes the same number of times to the BCM type installed in the vehicle.
  8. Within one second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position then back to the ACC position. The BCM will sound any DTCs that are stored.

Are there any BCM DTCs present?
