Ensure the vehicle is equipped with a theft deterrent (RPO UA6).

Is the vehicle equipped with a theft deterrent?

  1. Lower the drivers window to prevent lockout.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Close and lock all the vehicle doors.
  4. Insert the key into either door key cylinder.
  5. Rotate the door key cylinder and unlock the door.

Do the door locks unlock?

  1. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF to the RUN position.
  2. Close all the vehicle doors.
  3. Press lock then unlock on either door lock switch while observing the door locks.

Do the door locks lock then unlock?

  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  5. In order to enter the feature customization mode the BCM will sound a chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle (1-4 chimes).
  6. Press and release the LOCK button on either door lock switch in order to change the automatic door lock operation mode . The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the automatic door lock operation mode. A transition past mode 4 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .
  7. Press and release the UNLOCK button on either door lock switch in order to change the locking control mode.
  8. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the locking control mode. A transition past mode 4 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .

Does the BCM change modes as described?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reinstall the MALL PGM fuse in order to exit and save the current customization modes.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors.
  3. Reinstall the components.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  7. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM chimes the same number of times to the BCM type installed in the vehicle.
  8. Within one second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position then back to the ACC position. The BCM will sound any DTCs that are stored.
