Module Replacement - Power Window Buick

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove the inner belt strip.
  4. Remove the window retaining bolts.
  5. Remove the door glass. Refer to Door Window Replacement .
  6. Raise the regulator to the top travel.

    Important: Remove any pieces of rivet that fall inside of the door. Pieces left in the door may cause rattles.

  8. Drill out the 8 rivets on the module belt member using a 6 mm (1/4 in) drill.
  9. Disconnect the window motor electrical connector.
  10. Mark all of the adjustments for future glass adjustment.
  11. Loosen the adjustments.
  12. Remove the lower rear adjustment bracket.
  13. Pull up on the module belt member in order to remove the module assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 284149  Size: SH
  1. Perform the following steps in order to install the module in the door:
  2. 1.1. Align the front lower blade bracket into the adjuster.
    1.2. Orient the adjuster against the inner panel.
  3. Using the previous drill holes as locator holes, loosely install the following components in place of all of the rivets:
  4. • The bolts
    • The washers
    • The locknuts
  5. Push down and out during assembly in order to ensure that the belt member is tight to the door sheet metal.
  6. Push out the bottom of the module as far as possible.
  7. Place the adjuster onto the module stud.

  8. Install the nut.
  9. Lower the bracket.
  10. Verify that the bracket has minimum slip fit relative to the guide channel bracket.

  11. Adjust the bracket to the original position, as marked, in order to prepare for the window adjustment.
  12. Connect the electrical connector.
  13. Lower the regulator.
  14. Install the window. Refer to Door Window Replacement .
  15. Adjust the door, as necessary, in order to fit the body. Refer to Door Hinge Replacement .
  16. Adjust the door window. Refer to Door Window Adjustment .
  17. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  18. Install the inner belt strip.
  19. Install the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .

Module Replacement - Power Window Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement or to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the armrest bracket.
  3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  4. Remove the inner belt strip.

  6. Remove the window retaining bolts (2).
  7. Raise the regulator to the top travel.
  8. Remove the door glass. Refer to Door Window Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 284149  Size: SH

    Important: Remove any pieces of rivet that fall inside the door. Pieces left in the door may cause rattles.

  10. Drill out the 8 rivets on the module belt member using a 6 mm (1/4 in) drill.
  11. Disconnect the window motor electrical connector.
  12. Mark all of the adjustments for future glass adjustment.
  13. Loosen the adjustments.

  15. Pull up on the module belt member in order to remove the module assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Do not allow the fasteners to fall into the door cavity during assembly.

  1. Perform the following steps in order to install the module in the door:
  2. 1.1. Align the front lower blade bracket into the adjuster.
    1.2. Orient the adjuster against the inner panel.
  3. Install the short bolt in the top rear hole of the module.
  4. Using the previous drill holes as locator holes, loosely install the following components in place of all of the rivets:
  5. • The bolts
    • The washers
    • The locknuts
  6. In order to ensure that the height adjustment is not lost, perform one of the following routines:
  7. • For the rear door, hold up on both the front and the rear of the module while securing the bolts.
    • For the front door, hold up on the rear of the module while securing the bolts.
  8. Push out the bottom of the module as far as possible.
  9. Place the adjuster onto the module stud.

  10. Install the nut.
  11. Lower the bracket in order to ensure that the bracket has minimum slip fit relative to the guide channel bracket.
  12. Adjust the bracket to the original position, as marked, in order to prepare for the window adjustment.
  13. Connect the electrical connector.
  14. Lower the regulator.
  15. Install the window. Refer to Door Window Replacement .
  16. Adjust the door, as needed, in order to fit the body. Refer to Door Hinge Replacement .
  17. Adjust the door glass. Refer to Door Window Adjustment or to Rear Side Door Window Adjustment .
  18. Install the inner belt strip.
  19. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  20. Install the armrest bracket.
  21. Install the trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement or Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
