Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .

Glass Height (Rotational) Adjustment


    Object Number: 284156  Size: MH
  1. Mark the up stop position.
  2. Lower the glass from the full up position in order to relieve pressure on the up stops.
  3. Adjust the glass height adjusters, as necessary.

  4. Object Number: 284159  Size: MH
  5. Inspect the glass height adjustment by completing the following steps:
  6. 4.1. Apply masking tape over the top edge of the glass.
    4.2. With the glass at the full up position, make a pen mark on the tape along the molding.
    4.3. Verify that the glass engagement is a minimum of 3.0 mm (0.12 in).
    4.4. Verify that the swing clearance of the door glass is a minimum of 2.0 mm (0.08 in).
    4.5. Verify that adequate power is available to the window motor so that system is in maximum compression.
  7. Lower the glass.
  8. Raise the glass.
  9. Verify the measurements.
  10. Repeat steps 1-3, as necessary.
  11. Close the door with the window in the full up position.
  12. Observe whether the glass rubs or is very close to rubbing the roof rail molding.

Window Tilt Adjustment (Inboard/Outboard)


    Object Number: 284149  Size: SH
  1. Mark all of the adjustments.
  2. Loosen the stabilizer bracket assembly fore/aft and the glass tilt adjustments.
  3. Loosen the secondary glass tilt adjustment.
  4. Adjust the primary glass tilt adjustment in or out as necessary in order to move the top of the glass.
  5. Tighten the primary glass tilt adjustment nut.
  6. Operate the window module in order to verify that the adjustments do not restrain movement.
  7. Place the window in the full down position in order to ensure that the front guide channel is free for movement.
  8. Tighten the secondary glass tilt adjuster.
  9. Sit inside the vehicle in order to observe the back channel guide.
  10. Close the door.
  11. Operating the window, observe that the glass moving upward does not damage the rear seal.
  12. If the glass may damage the seal, return to step 1.
  13. • Damage to the seal indicates the glass tilts too far inboard.
    • If the glass does not tilt inboard enough for a proper position at the full up position, move the seal retainer outboard.
    • If the glass does not tilt outboard enough for a proper position at the full up position, move the seal retainer inboard.
  14. Ensuring that the glass guidance module does not move, tighten the stabilizer bracket assembly adjustments.
  15. Tighten all of the adjustments.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  2. Install the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
