Removal Procedure
  1. Set the park brake and block the wheels.
  2. Remove the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

    3. Object Number: 161226 Size: SH
  3. Disconnect and remove the park lock cable from the shift control and the bracket.

    4. Object Number: 161224 Size: SH
  4. Remove the park lock cable from beneath the heater duct.
  5. Remove the park lock cable from behind the accelerator pedal linkage and accelerator pedal bracket.
  6. Disconnect the park lock cable from the pedal bracket.
  7. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  8. Remove the knee bolster in order to gain access to the ignition switch end of the park lock cable. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Turn the ignition to ACC.

  10. Depress the park lock cable lock tab in order to release the park lock cable from the ignition switch.
  11. Remove the park lock cable.

Installation Procedure
  1. Turn the ignition to ACC.

    2. Object Number: 161227 Size: SH
  2. Install and connect the park lock cable to the ignition switch.

    3. Object Number: 161224 Size: SH

    Important: Do not bend the cable less than a 102.00 mm (4 in) radius during installation, the cable is not to be kinked or damaged.

  3. Connect the park lock cable to the pedal bracket.
  4. Install and route the park lock cable behind the accelerator pedal linkage and accelerator pedal bracket.
  5. Install and route the park lock cable beneath the heater duct.

  6. Install and connect the park lock cable to the shift control and the bracket.
  7. Verify the function of the park lock system. Refer to Park Lock Cable Adjustment .
  8. Install the steering column opening filler and knee bolster bracket. Refer to Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  10. Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  11. Release the park brake and remove the wheel blocks.
