    Important: The new park lock cable is pre-adjusted. After installation, a new or old park lock cable will need to be adjusted if either of the following conditions occur.

       • The key in the ignition switch can move to the LOCK position when the shift control is not in Park.
       • The shift control can be moved out of Park when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.

  1. Set the park brake and block the wheels.
  2. Turn the ignition to ACC.
  3. Move the shift control to Park.
  4. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  5. Object Number: 161228  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the park lock cable from the shift control.

  7. Object Number: 161229  Size: SH
  8. Open the lock in the adjuster body by prying up the lock with a flat-bladed tool.

  9. Object Number: 161230  Size: SH
  10. Adjust the adjuster body so that one more rib is visible.

  11. Object Number: 161231  Size: SH

    Important: The cable should move freely within the adjuster body.

  12. Press the lock on the adjuster body.

  14. Connect the park lock cable to the shift control.
  15. Verify that the park lock system operates properly.
  16. • The ignition rotates to LOCK only when the shift control is in Park.

       Important: The brake pedal must be pressed in order to move the shift control out of park when the ignition is in RUN.

    • The shift control moves out of Park only when the ignition is in ACC or RUN.
  17. Readjust the adjuster body, if necessary.
  18. Install the front floor console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  19. Release the park brake and remove the wheel blocks.
