Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  2. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  3. Drain the engine coolant from the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  4. Disconnect the coolant recovery hose from the neck of the radiator.
  5. Remove the coolant level module from the radiator. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the inlet hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  7. Disconnect the outlet hose from the radiator. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
  8. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4T65E.

  10. Remove the radiator bracket mounting bolts.
  11. Remove the radiator mounting brackets
  12. Remove the radiator.

Installation Procedure

NOTICE: When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL® or HAVOLINE® DEX-COOL® coolant. If Coolant other than DEX-COOL® or HAVOLINE® DEX-COOL® is added to the system the engine coolant will require change sooner; at 50 000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

  1. Install the radiator mounts.

  2. Object Number: 308935  Size: SH
  3. Install the radiator.
  4. Install the radiator mounting brackets
  5. Install the radiator bracket mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the radiator bracket mounting bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4T65E.
  8. Connect the outlet hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
  9. Connect the inlet hose to the radiator. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement .
  10. Install the coolant level module to the radiator. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement .
  11. Connect the coolant recovery hose to the neck of the radiator.
  12. Install the cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement
  13. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  14. Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  15. Inspect for leaks.
