Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement .
  3. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  4. Remove the left or the right camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side or Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side .
  5. Remove the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.0L (L81).
  6. Remove the front timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
  7. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  8. Remove the left or the right camshaft(s). Refer to Camshaft Replacement - Left Side or Camshaft Replacement - Right Side .

  9. Object Number: 217379  Size: SH
  10. Remove the lifter(s) (1). Place the lifter(s) in a rack sequentially so they can be reinstalled in their original order if the lifter(s) is to be reused.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 217379  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the lifter(s) (1) with prelube, GM P/N 12345501 or equivalent.
  2. Install the lifter(s) in their original position if not replaced.
  3. Install the left or the right camshaft(s). Refer to Camshaft Replacement - Left Side or Camshaft Replacement - Right Side .
  4. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  5. Install the front timing belt cover. Refer to Timing Belt Cover Replacement .
  6. Install the intake air resonator. Refer to Intake Air Resonator Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.0L (L81).
  7. Install the left or the right camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement - Left Side or Camshaft Cover Replacement - Right Side .
  8. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  9. Install the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
