When the following conditions exist, inspect the rear compartment lid to the quarter panel gap for the proper alignment:

    • The rear compartment lid is closed.
    • The rear compartment lid lock is engaged.

Adjust the lid from the original position. Perform the adjustments using the elongated holes in the rear compartment lid hinge.

Prior to performing any rear compartment lid lock or striker adjustments, properly align the rear compartment lid to the rear compartment opening using the hinge adjustment.

Perform the following steps in order to adjust the rear compartment lid:

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Adjust the rear compartment lid bumpers, this provides vertical adjustment at the rear of the rear compartment lid, if necessary.
  3. Remove the rear compartment lid striker assembly, if necessary. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Striker Replacement .
  4. Loosen the 4 rear compartment lid mounting bolts (3).
  5. Adjust the rear compartment lid to quarter panel clearance gap to between 3-5 mm (0.11-0.20 in) on each side of the rear compartment lid.
  6. If further adjustment is required, loosen the bolts attaching the rear compartment lid hinge to the body and adjust the position of the hinge. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Hinge Replacement .
  7. Check the height difference between the rear compartment lid and quarter panel at the front.
  8. Adjust the rear compartment lid to rear bumper fascia assembly gap to between 4-6 mm (0.16-0.24 in)
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Install the rear compartment lid striker assembly, if removed. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Striker Replacement .
  11. Tighten

        • Tighten the rear compartment lid bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
        • Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge to the body bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  12. Lower the rear compartment lid.
