Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear window shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear compartment lid struts. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Strut Replacement .
  3. Remove the rear compartment lid. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 1253685  Size: SH
  5. Remove the rear compartment lid hinge cap (1) from the rear compartment lid hinge (4), if necessary.
  6. Use a grease pencil to mark the hinge to the hinge mounting panel (3) for the location at installation.
  7. Remove the 4 bolts (2) from hinge (4) at the hinge mounting panel (3).
  8. Remove the hinge.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the hinge (4) to the alignment marks on the hinge mounting panel (3).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 4 hinge bolts (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment hinge bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  5. Install the rear compartment lid hinge cap (1), if removed.
  6. Install the rear compartment lid. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Replacement .
  7. Install the rear compartment struts. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Strut Replacement .
  8. Install the rear window shelf trim panel. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .
  9. Adjust the rear compartment lid, if necessary. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Adjustment .
  10. Close the rear compartment lid.
