Description

Ensure that the sliding door is in good mechanical condition for proper operation of the Power Sliding Door (PSD). Ensure that the sliding door tracks and rollers are in good condition in order to provide a smooth sliding door operation without excessive resistance. Any sliding door mechanical problems will affect the operation of the PSD. Repair the mechanical portion of the sliding before attempting any PSD diagnosis.

The sliding door mechanical check diagnostic table inspects the entire mechanical portion of the sliding door, step by step. Follow each step carefully. Most malfunctions related to the PSD operation are related to a mechanical problem, not to the PSD components.

Diagnostic Aids

    • Inspect the upper/middle/lower sliding door track and rollers for the following conditions:
       - Dirt or foreign material
       - Damage, such as bends or rust
       - Vehicle damage due to an accident
       - Door alignment (flushness, gaps)
    • Inspect the following components for sliding door interference:
       - The weatherstrip around the sliding door
       - The interior trim panel for the sliding door B-pillar and quarter panel
       - The carpet
    • Inspect the sliding door latches and the strikers for proper operation.
    • Inspect the switch plate plungers/striker and the locating pin/pocket for proper interface.
