Power Sliding Door Motor Clutch Replacement Extended Wheel Base

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
2. Remove the right rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
3. Open the sliding door 1/3 of the way.
4. Support the bottom of the sliding door.



5. Remove the center roller bracket pin. Separate the center roller bracket (body side) from the center roller bracket (door side).
6. Position the bottom of the sliding door outward at the rear in order to provide access to the center roller bracket (body side).
7. Position the sliding door center roller bracket (body side) at the front of the center roller track. Verify that you have access to the tension adjuster nut at the sliding door actuator motor.



8. Use pliers in order to pull out the cable adjuster nut (7) about 4- 5 mm (0.16-0.20 in). Turn the adjuster nut (7) clockwise while pulling on the rear cable until the cable is slack.
9. Lift the center roller bracket (body side) up and out from the front radius of the sliding door center track.
10. Detach the cable ends from the sliding door center roller bracket (body side).
11. Disconnect the wiring harness leads from the PSD control module.
12. Remove the PSD actuator motor bolts.
13. Remove the PSD actuator motor nuts.
14. Lift up the rear of the module. Move the module inward in order to provide access to the module and the cable ends. Remove the cables from the quarter panel and center roller track.

Notice: Use care when feeding cables to and from the center track and body to avoid damage to the coated cables and the vehicle's painted surface.

15. Remove the PSD actuator motor from the vehicle.

1. Position the PSD actuator motor to the vehicle.
2. Route the front cable through the C-pillar.
3. Route the rear cable through the slot in the rear pillar.

Notice: Make sure the rear cable is routed between the center roller track and the center roller track stop bumper to avoid damage to the coated cable.

4. Locate the following components:

•	The lower attaching flange to the rear wheelhouse flange

•	The upper locating stud to the hole on the module

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

5. Install the PSD actuator motor bolts and nuts and tighten them in the correct fastener tightening sequence.

Tighten
Tighten the PSD actuator motor nuts and the PSD actuator motor bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

6. Connect the wiring harness leads to the PSD module.



7. Attach the cable ends to the center roller bracket (body side).
8. Verify that the PSD cable barrels are correctly installed into the retaining fingers of the center roller bracket (body side). The cable retaining fingers are located on the roller bracket.
9. Bend the retaining fingers 90 degrees over the barrel ends.
10. Position the center roller bracket to the front radius of the sliding door center track.
11. Lower the sliding door center roller bracket to sliding door center track down and into the sliding door center track.
12. Position the sliding door center roller bracket in the front of the sliding door center track. Complete the following actions simultaneously:

•	Pull on the rear cable in order to apply temporary tension

•	Pull the sliding door center roller bracket toward the front of the sliding door center track

13. Position the sliding door center roller bracket at the front of the track. Ensure that the bracket is 25 mm (1 in) from the point where the cable tension adjuster nut is accessible in the adjuster window.



14. Adjust the cable tension by turning the cable adjuster nut (7) counter-clockwise until the tensioner pins are located between the front and rear double blocks. The blocks are marked on the PSD module housing.
15. Position the sliding door center roller bracket to the rear of the track. Align the pin holes.



16. Install the pin to the sliding door center roller bracket.
17. Remove the support from the PSD.
18. Manually open and close the sliding door in order to verify following items:

•	The latch/unlatch function operates.

•	The cable assembly is correctly positioned in the center track.

•	That the door fits correctly.

19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
20. Perform the reinitialization procedure. Refer to Power Sliding Door (PSD) Re-Initialization .
21. Install the right rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

Power Sliding Door Motor Clutch Replacement Regular Wheel Base

1. Remove the right rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
3. Open the sliding door 1/3 of the way.
4. Support the bottom of the sliding door.



5. Remove the center roller bracket pin. Separate the center roller bracket (body side) from the center roller bracket (door side).
6. Position the bottom of the sliding door out at the rear in order to provide access to the center roller bracket (body side).
7. Position the sliding door center roller bracket (body side) at the front of the center roller track.
8. Release the cable tension by pushing the tensioning nut inward. Pull the rear cable in order to achieve slack.
9. Visually confirm that the cables are slack by observing that the center white dots are below the white indicator bands.
10. Lift the center roller bracket (body side) up and out from the front radius of the sliding door center track.
11. Detach the cable ends from the sliding door center roller bracket (body side).
12. Disconnect the wiring harness from the power sliding door (PSD) actuator control module.
13. Remove the right rear taillight. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.



14. Remove the cable guide bracket screws (1,2 & 3).
15. Remove the cable guide bracket from the vehicle.



16. Slide the cable guide bracket pulley cover off of the pulley. Lift the rear cable off of the cable guide bracket pulley.
17. Carefully lift the sliding door center track cover away from the vehicle. Remove the rear cable from the opening at the rear of the center track.



18. Rotate the rear cable housing 90 degrees in order to unlock the rear cable housing from the body. Verify that the flats on the cable conduit are outward toward the quarter panel.



19. Remove the PSD actuator motor nuts (1 & 4) and bolts (2 & 3).
20. Remove the front pulley nuts and bolts.

21. Carefully remove the PSD motor-clutch assembly from the vehicle.

1. Route the rear cable conduit behind the jack bracket.
2. Feed the rear cable through the slot in the rear pillar.
3. Position the PSD actuator motor to the vehicle.



4. Rotate the end of the rear cable housing 90 degrees in order to lock the housing into place. Start with the flat edges outward against the quarter panel. Observe the forward locking tab in order to judge the position of the rearward locking tab. This ensures that the flat side of the locking clips are properly positioned.
5. Route the front cable through the body and position the front pulley assembly over the stud.
6. Secure the front pulley nut.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Tighten
Tighten the PSD actuator motor nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

7. Secure the front pulley bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the PSD actuator motor bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).




8. Secure the remaining PSD support bolts and nuts in the correct fastener tightening sequence.

Tighten
Tighten the PSD actuator motor nuts and the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

9. Connect the body harness to the PSD module. Use the integral clip in order to secure the harness.
10. Route the rear cable through the guide bracket pulley.
11. Slide the cable guide bracket pulley cover over the pulley.
12. Align the slot in the cable guide bracket pulley cover to the hole in the guide bracket.
13. Carefully lift the sliding door center track cover away from the vehicle and route the rear cable through the opening at the rear of the center track.
14. Rotate the cable guide bracket tab to the quarter outer panel in order to position the cable and guide into the center of the stop bracket opening.



15. Use the cable guide bracket screws in order to attach the cable guide bracket to the body. Follow the specified torque sequence.

Tighten
Tighten the cable guide bracket screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).




16. Connect both the front and rear ends of the PSD cable to the center roller bracket.
17. Verify that the PSD cable barrels are correctly installed into the retaining fingers of the center roller bracket (body side). The cable retaining fingers are located on the roller bracket.
18. Bend the retaining fingers 90 degrees over the barrel ends.
19. Carefully slide the center roller bracket to the front of the center roller track.
20. Position the sliding door roller bracket in front of the sliding door center track. Be careful not to drag the cables on the painted body surface. Complete the following actions simultaneously:

•	Pull on the rear cable in order to apply temporary tension.

•	Pull the sliding door center roller bracket towards the front of the sliding door center track.

21. Install the center roller bracket to the center roller track.
22. Position the center roller bracket at the front of the track. Ensure that the bracket is 25 mm (1 in) away from the forward radius, to the point where the tensioning slot is accessible in the window.



23. Insert a 3/8 inch drill bit into the tension slot on the actuator motor until the drill bit bottoms.
24. Adjust the cable tension by turning the cable adjuster nut counter-clockwise until the tensioner pins are located between the front and rear double blocks. The blocks are marked on the PSD module housing.
25. Remove the 3/8 inch drill bit from the cable tension slot.



26. Position the sliding door center roller bracket to the rear of the track. Align the pin holes.
27. Install the pin to the sliding door center roller bracket.
28. Remove the support from the PSD.
29. Manually open and close the sliding door in order to verify that:

•	Latch/unlatch function operates

•	Cable assembly is correctly positioned in the center track

•	The door fits

30. Install the right rear taillight. refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
31. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
32. Perform the reinitialization procedure. Refer to Power Sliding Door (PSD) Re-Initialization .
33. Install the right rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
