Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 2001 🢒 Impala 🢒 HVAC 🢒 Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning 🢒 Defroster Door Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the trim pad instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Remove the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove the defroster actuator.
  4. Remove the mode actuator.

  5. Remove the air distribution case cover retaining screws (1).
  6. Remove the air distribution case cover (2).
  7. Remove and discard the air distribution case seal.
  8. Remove the linkage between the defroster door and the heater door on the left side of the HVAC module assembly.

    9. Object Number: 607136 Size: SH
  9. Remove the defroster door (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 607136 Size: SH

    Important: Align the defroster door assist spring to the HVAC module assembly assembly case.

  1. Install the defroster door (1).
  2. Connect the linkage between the defroster door and the heater door.
  3. Install a new air distribution case seal.

    4. Object Number: 607130 Size: SH
  4. Install the air distribution case cover (2).

    5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the air distributor cover retaining screws (1).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the air distributor cover retaining screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  6. Install the trim pad instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  7. Install the defroster actuator.
  8. Install the mode actuator.
  9. Install the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  10. Install the trim pad instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
