Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the muffler. Refer to Muffler .
  2. Remove the exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 21701  Size: SH
  4. Remove the exhaust pipe heat shield bolts.
  5. Remove the exhaust pipe heat shield.

  6. Object Number: 21620  Size: SH
  7. Remove the muffler heat shield bolts.
  8. Remove the muffler heat shield.

Installation Procedure

   • 
Object Number: 21620  Size: SH
  • Install the muffler heat shield.
  •    • 
  • Install the muffler heat shield screws.
  • Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.0 N·m (18 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  • Install the exhaust pipe heat shield.
  •    • 
  • Install the exhaust pipe heat shield screws.
  • Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.0 N·m (18 lb in).

       • 
  • Install the exhaust pipe. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement .
  •    • 
  • Install the muffler. Refer to Muffler .
