Muffler 3800 w/o RPO Y87

1. Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.



2. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger nut from the exhaust muffler hanger.



3. Loosen the muffler clamp.
4. Slide the exhaust pipe out of the muffler.
5. Remove the muffler.

1. Install the muffler.
2. Slide the exhaust pipe into the muffler.



3. Install the muffler clamp.

Tighten
Tighten the muffler clamp to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.




4. Install the exhaust pipe hanger nut.

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust pipe hanger nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

Important: When installing an exhaust muffler, follow clearance specifications for proper alignment. Refer to Exhaust System Clearances .

5. Lower the vehicle.

Muffler 5.7L VIN P/3800 VIN K;Y87

1. Raise the vehicle. Suitable support the vehicle. Refer to Section 0A.



2. Remove the exhaust muffler hanger nut.



3. Loosen the muffler clamp.
4. Slide the exhaust pipe out of the muffler.
5. Slide the muffler from the muffler bracket.
6. Remove the muffler

Important: When installing an exhaust muffler, follow clearance specification for proper alignment. Refer to Exhaust System Clearances .

1. Install the muffler
2. Slide the muffler into the muffler bracket.
3. Slide the exhaust pipe into the muffler.



4. Tighten the muffler clamp.

Tighten
Tighten the muffler clamp to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

6. Lower the vehicle.
