Exhaust Pipe Replacement 3800 VIN K
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Section
0A.
- Remove the muffler. Refer to
Muffler
.
- Remove the rear axle tie rod brace bracket. Refer to SECTION 3D.
- Loosen the clamp from the exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter.
- Slide the exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter.
- Remove the exhaust pipe from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust pipe to the vehicle.
- Slide the exhaust pipe onto the catalytic converter.
- Install the clamp from the exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear axle tie rod. Refer to SECTION 3D.
- Install the exhaust muffler. Refer to

- Lower the vehicle.
