Rear Compartment Lid Replacement DeVille

1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the the trim on the rear compartment lid. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
3. Disconnect the lock release solenoid connector.
4. Disconnect the harness connector.
5. Remove the license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement .
6. Disconnect the harness from the pocket.
7. Remove the plastic connector on the lock cylinder.
8. Remove the lid lock release solenoid.
9. Tie a string to the wire harness assembly.
10. Pull the wire harness out of the lid.

Leave the string running through the lid and hanging out at both ends.





Caution:  When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

11. Remove the 2 bolts (2) at each hinge (3).
12. With an assistant, remove the lid assembly (1).

1. With an assistant, install the lid (1) to the hinges (3).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the 2 bolts (2) to each hinge (3).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

3. Using the string, pull the wire harness through the lid (1).
4. Connect the connector to the lock cylinder, as necessary.
5. Connector the electric lock release solenoid connector.
6. Adjust the lid, as necessary. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Adjustment .

Rear Compartment Lid Replacement Eldorado

1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
3. Remove the license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement .
4. Remove the lock actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement .
5. Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement .
6. Unsnap the harness from the lid.
7. Remove the right spring and the left spring. Refer to Spring Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid Hinge .

8. Remove the 2 bolts (3) at each hinge (4).
9. With an assistant, remove the lid assembly (1).

1. Install the lid lock actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement .
2. Install the rear compartment lock cylinder. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement .



3. With an assistant, install the lid (1) to the hinges (4).

4. Install the 2 bolts (3) to each hinge (4).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

5. Install the right spring and the left spring. Refer to Spring Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid Hinge .
6. Snap the harness into the lid (1).
7. Connect the connector to the lock actuator.
8. Connect the connector to the harness.
9. Connect the connector to the lock cylinder.
10. Install the license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement .
11. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
12. Close the trunk.
