Ignition Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle Column Shift

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 418426  Size: SH
  1. Install the stud and bracket assembly (1).
  2. Install the torx washer head screw (2).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the stud to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  4. Install the cable shift cam assembly (4).
  5. Lubricate with synthetic grease. Install the cam retainer (3).
  6. Install the ignition switch assembly (5).
  7. Install the PRNDL adjuster assembly (6).
  8. Install the electrical BTSI actuator assembly. Refer to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Control Assemble - Off Vehicle .
  9. Install the dimmer switch assembly. Refer to Dimmer Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

Assembly Procedure

  • Install the ignition swtich assembly (2) onto the steering column jacket assembly (1).
  •    • 
  • Install the dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud (3).
  • Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener.
