Radio/Audio System Check

  1. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  2. Make sure radio is OFF.

The radio displays the current time.

Turn ON the radio.

The radio displays a current station for approximately 5 seconds and then displays the current time.

Radio Display Inoperative, No Sound from Speakers

Turn the headlamp switch to the PARK position.

    • The radio display dims.
    • The radio face and the radio buttons illuminate.

  1. Turn the FADE control to the front speakers.
  2. Turn the balance control to the left front and then to the right front speaker.
    • Only the front speakers are heard.
    • Only the left front and then the right front speakers are heard.

  1. Turn the FADE control to the rear speakers.
  2. Turn the balance control to the left rear and then to the right rear speakers. Return the fade and balance control to the neutral position.
    • Only the rear speakers are heard.
    • Only the left front and then the right front speakers are heard.

Depress the RECALL button.

The radio display toggles between the tuner and the clock.

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Adjust the BASS control to the high position and then the low position.

The sound alternates between high bass and low bass frequency.

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Adjust the TREB control to the high position and then the low position.

The sound alternates between high treble and low treble frequency.

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Return the BASS and the TREB control buttons to the neutral position.

The sound returns to the nominal bass and treble frequencies.

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press the AUTO TONE button 7 times.

The auto tone cycles through the following presets:

    • C/W
    • CLASSIC
    • NEWS
    • ROCK
    • POP
    • JAZZ
    • OFF

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press the BAND button up to access the FM1 and the FM2 bands.

The radio stations on the FM1 and the FM2 bands appear on the display.

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press the BAND button down to access the AM band.

The radio stations on the AM band appear on the display.

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press and hold the SCAN button for 2-3 seconds.

Each of the presets is scanned for a few seconds and then scanning continues until the button is pressed again.

The radio control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press and hold HR or MIN until the time display begins to change.

    • There is approximately a 2 second delay before the clock goes into the time-set mode.
    • The time display begins to move.

Insert a known good cassette tape into the tape player.

The cassette tape plays and sound is heard from the speakers.

    • The cassette tape player is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

    • Press the NEXT or the SEEK > button.
    • Press the PREV or the < SEEK button.
    • The cassette tape moves to the next selection and plays.
    • The cassette tape moves to the previous selection and plays.

The cassette tape player is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press the FWD button.

The cassette tape fast forwards and then reverses.

The cassette tape player is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press the REV button.

The cassette tape reverses.

The cassette tape player is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press the AM/FM button.

The sound toggles from the cassette tape player to the radio tuner.

The cassette tape player is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Press the EJECT button.

The cassette tape player ejects the tape.

The cassette tape player is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Insert a known compact disc (CD) into the CD player (w/single disc CD player).

The CD plays and sound is heard from the speakers.

    • CD Player Inoperative.

Press the TUNE-SEEK button.

The CD moves to the next selection and plays.

The CD player control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

    • Press and hold the FF button.
    • Press and hold the RW button.
    • The CD fast forwards.
    • The CD reverses.

The CD player control is inoperative. Refer to Radio Replacement .

  1. Insert a known good compact disc (CD) into the CD changer (with US1).
  2. Press the SOURCE button

The CD player plays and sound is heard from the speakers.
