Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the automatic door locks are enabled. Refer to Driver Personalization in Personalization.

Are the automatic door locks enabled?

Go to Step 3

Verify that the automatic door locks inoperative fault is present.

Does the automatic door locks system operate normally?

Verify that the power door locks system operates properly.

Does the power door locks system operate normally?

  1. Turn the iignition on, with the engine off.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the run/crank parameter in the Body Control Module data list.

Does the scan tool indicate On?

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the BCM C1 harness connector.
  3. Turn the iignition on, with the engine off.
  4. Probe the crank positive voltage circuit of the BCM C1 harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 14

  1. Connect the BCM C1 harness connector.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the park position switch parameter in the Body Control Module data list.
  3. Place the gear shift lever in Drive.

Does the scan tool indicate Off?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock control switch harness connector.
  3. Turn the iignition on, with the engine off.
  4. Probe the gear out of position signal circuit of the automatic transmission shift lock control switch harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 15

  1. With a scan tool, observe the door jamb switch parameter in the Body Control Module data list.
  2. Close all the doors.

Does the scan tool indicate Off?

Go to Step 14

  1. With a scan tool, observe the door jamb switch parameter in the Body Control Module data list.
  2. Disconnect each of the door jamb switch harness connectors one at a time, reconnecting the harness connector after observing the parameter.

Does the scan tool indicate Off?

Test the crank positive voltage circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the gear out of position signal circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door open signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the body control module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
