Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• | Unnecessary SIR system repairs |
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• | Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. |
• | If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. |
- Disable the SIR system,
if equipped with the SIR side impact system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Remove the front door outside handle. Refer to
Front Side Door Outside Handle Replacement
.
- Remove the front door
outside handle lock rod.
- Remove the C-Clip.
- Remove the cam lever.
- Remove the spring from the lock barrel.
- Remove the thrust spring.
- Remove the clear plastic cap.
- Remove the door lock cylinder roll pin.
- Insert the key into the lock cylinder.
- Turn the lock cylinder to the right to release the cylinder from
the lock plate.
- Remove two ball bearings, two roller cylinder thrust caps.
- Remove the lock cylinder from the cylinder housing.
Installation Procedure
- Install the lock cylinder
to the cylinder housing.
- Install two ball bearings, two roller cylinder thrust caps.
- Turn the lock cylinder to the left to lock the cylinder to the
lock plate.
- Remove the key from the lock cylinder.
- Install the door lock cylinder roll pin.
- Install the clear plastic cap.
- Install the thrust spring.
- Install the cam lever.
- Install the C-Clip.
- Install the front door outside handle. Refer to

- Install the front door water deflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Install front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Enable the SIR system, if equipped with the SIR side impact system.
