Removal Procedure

    Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system, if equipped with the SIR side impact system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .

  5. Remove the front door lock from the clip.
  6. Remove the front door lock tamper switch electrical connector.
  7. Remove the front door outside handle nuts.
  8. Remove the front door lock cylinder plate.
  9. Remove the front door outside handle clip.
  10. Remove the front door outside handle.
  11. Remove the front door gasket from the handle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the front door gasket to the handle.
  2. Install the front door outside handle.
  3. Install the front door outside handle clip.
  4. Install the front door lock cylinder plate.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the front door outside handle nuts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten front outside handle nuts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  8. Install the front door lock tamper switch electrical connector.
  9. Install the front door lock to the clip.
  10. Install the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  11. Install the front door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  12. Enable the SIR system, if equipped with the SIR side impact system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
