Did you perform A Diagnostic System Check - Cruise Control?

Go to Step 2

Operate the vehicle within the conditions for cruise control operation.

Does the cruise control system operate correctly?

Go to Step 3

Go to Cruise Control Inoperative/Malfunctioning

Use a scan tool in order to command the cruise lamp ON.

Does the cruise lamp in the IPC illuminate?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Engine Controls in Engine Controls

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the appropriate PCM harness connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the cruise indicator lamp signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the CRUISE indicator in the IPC illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Did the 3 amp fuse in the jumper wire open?

Go to Step 8

Test the cruise indicator lamp signal circuit for a open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Test the CRUISE lamp bulb in the IPC for a open or poor connection. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 13

Test the cruise indicator lamp signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the PCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Important: The IPC must be reprogrammed when replaced.

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
