Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

DEFINITION: Delay and Mist are inoperative, wipers may not park, and low speed wipers may be inoperative.

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch through all the switch positions.

Does the windshield wiper/washer system operate normal?

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper switch to the low speed position.

Do the windshield wipers operate at low speed?

--

Turn the windshield wiper switch to the off position.

Do the windshield wipers park?

--

  1. Remove the WIPER fuse 9.
  2. Remove the windshield wiper motor relay K8.
  3. Test the resistance from the wiper switch supply circuit terminal in the fuse block to the interval switch signal circuit terminal in the relay connector.
  4. Turn the windshield wiper switch to the delay position.
  5. Rotate the interval switch through the full range.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0.68K-5K ohms

  1. Disconnect the interval switch connector.
  2. Test the resistance through the interval switch.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0.68K-5K ohms

Test and repair the interval switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Remove the windshield wiper motor relay K8.
  2. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  3. Test the resistance from the windshield wiper motor relay connector terminal 2 to the low speed supply circuit terminal in the windshield wiper motor connector.
  4. Turn the windshield wiper switch to the off position.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0-2 ohms

Test and repair the windshield wiper motor relay function supply circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the windshield wiper motor low speed supply circuit terminal to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition on.
  4. Turn the windshield wiper switch to the low speed position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?
