Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  3. Object Number: 159509  Size: SH
  4. Remove the air inlet grilles. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Remove the two support bracket screws from the air inlet grille. Lift up on the windshield glass seal in order to expose the screws.
  6. Remove the power brake booster vacuum hose. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  7. Unclip the knock sensor and the fuel injection harness from the engine lift bracket.
  8. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the wiper motor.
  9. Remove the upper link (1) of the wiper transmission from the crank arm (6).

  11. Remove the transmission screws.
  12. Remove the wiper transmission the wiper motor.

  13. Object Number: 159509  Size: SH
  14. Remove the crank arm nut (7) from the wiper motor.
  15. Remove the crank arm (6).
  16. Remove the transmission lower link (3) from the wiper transmission (2).
  17. Remove the wiper motor bracket bolts (5) from the wiper transmission.
  18. Remove the wiper motor (4) from the wiper transmission.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the wiper motor (4) to the wiper transmission (2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the wiper motor bracket bolts (5) to the wiper transmission.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the wiper motor bracket bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Install the transmission lower link (3) to the wiper transmission.
  6. Install the crank arm (6).
  7. Install the crank arm nut (7).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the crank arm nut to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  9. Install the wiper transmission with the wiper motor.
  10. Install the wiper transmission screws.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the wiper transmission screws to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  12. Install the upper link (1) to the wiper transmission.
  13. Connect the wiring harness connector to the wiper motor.
  14. Attach the knock sensor and the fuel injection harness to the engine lift bracket.
  15. Install the wiper support bracket screws to the air inlet grille.
  16. Install the wiper support bracket screws.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the wiper support bracket screws to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  18. Install the power brake vacuum booster hose. Refer to Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  19. Install the air inlet grilles. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  20. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  21. Close the hood.
