Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to one of the following procedures:
    2. •  Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
  2. Remove the upper part of the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the harness from the latch.
  4. Remove the outside handle rod and the key cylinder rod from the latch.

    5. Object Number: 284132 Size: SH
  5. Remove the rivets (1) from the inside handle (2).
  6. Remove the 3 screws from the lock assembly.
  7. Remove the following components from the door:
    8. • The inside handle (2)
    • The rods
    • The latch assembly
  8. Remove the inside handle rod and the inside lock rod.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 284134 Size: SH
  1. Install the inside handle rod and the inside lock rod to the latch.
  2. Observe the purple paint mark that indicates where the rods cross.

    3. Ensure that the rods are inboard of the handle rod on Oldsmobile (2) and inboard of the lock knob rod on Buick (1).

  3. Install the following components to the door:
    4. • The inside handle (2)
    • The rods
    • The latch assembly
  4. Install the 3 screws to the lock assembly.
  5. Install the rivets (1) to the inside handle (2).
  6. Install the outside handle rod and the key cylinder rod to the latch.
  7. Connect the harness to the latch.
  8. Install the upper part of the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  9. Install the trim panel. Refer to one of the following procedures:
    10. •  Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
