Front Fender Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  2. Remove the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the wheel opening molding. Refer to Front Fender Wheel Opening Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  4. Remove the fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement .
  5. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  6. Remove the hood panel. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  7. Remove the lower hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 283571  Size: LH
  9. Remove the bolt (3) that retains the bottom of the fender (1) at the door hinge pillar.
  10. Remove the bolt (4) that retains the fender (1) at the headlamp opening.
  11. Remove the bolts (2) that retain the fender (1) to the upper rail.
  12. Remove the fender (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 283571  Size: LH
  1. Install the fender (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (2) in order to retain the fender (1) to the upper rail.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).

  5. Install the bolt (4) in order to retain the fender (1) at the headlamp opening.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10.5 N·m (93 lb in).

  7. Install the bolt (3) in order to retain the bottom of the fender (1) at the door hinge pillar.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Install the lower hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .
  10. Install the hood panel. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  11. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  12. Install the fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement .
  13. Install the wheel opening molding. Refer to Front Fender Wheel Opening Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  14. Install the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  15. Install the headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Front Fender Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  2. Remove the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement .
  4. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  5. Remove the hood panel. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  6. Remove the lower hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 284065  Size: LH
  8. Remove the bolt (3) that retains the bottom of the fender (1) at the door hinge pillar.
  9. Remove the bolt (4) that retains the fender (1) at the headlamp opening.
  10. Remove the bolts (2) that retain the fender (1) to the upper rail.
  11. Remove the fender (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fender (1).

  5. Install the bolt (4) in order to retain the fender (1) at the headlamp opening.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10.5 N·m (93 lb in).

  7. Install the bolt (3) in order to retain the bottom of the fender (1) at the door hinge pillar.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  9. Install the lower hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .
  10. Install the hood panel. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  11. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  12. Install the fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement in Bumpers.
  13. Install the wheelhouse assembly. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  14. Install the headlamp assembly. Refer to Headlamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
