Front Bumper Fascia Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the lower air baffle. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove the engine splash shield.
  4. Remove the wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Disconnect the 3 connectors from each side.

  6. Object Number: 282604  Size: MH
  7. Remove the 4 nuts (1) that retain the fascia (4) to the fender (2 on each side).
  8. Remove the bolts (2) that retain the fascia (4) to the fascia support.

  9. Object Number: 282605  Size: MH

    Important: When removing or installing the fascia (1), do not allow the fascia support stud plates (3) to contact the fender.

  10. Remove the fascia (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Important: When removing or installing the fascia (1), do not allow the fascia support stud plates (3) to contact the fender.

  1. Install the fascia (1) to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 282604  Size: MH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (2) in order to retain the fascia (4) to the fascia support.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Install the 4 nuts (1) in order to retain the fascia (4) to the fascia support (2 on each side).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts 10.5 N·m (93 lb in).

  7. Connect the 3 connectors on each side.
  8. Install the wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  9. Install the engine splash shield.
  10. Install the lower air baffle. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement .
  11. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the wheel opening molding. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the engine splash shield.
  4. Remove the wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the 2 connectors from each side.

  6. Object Number: 282606  Size: MH
  7. Remove the 4 nuts (3) that retain the fascia (4) to the fender (2 on each side).
  8. Remove the bolts (2) that retain the fascia (4) to the fascia support.

  9. Object Number: 282608  Size: SH

    Important: When removing or installing the fascia (1), do not allow the fascia support stud plates (3) to contact the fender.

  10. Remove the fascia (1) from the vehicle.
