Was the Wiper/Washer System Check performed?

Go to Wiper/Washer System Check

1. Remove the WSW fuse.
2. Set the DMM to the amp scale and connect across the fuse terminals.
3. Set the ignition switch to RUN.
4. Set the wiper switch to LO.
5. Observe the lowest current draw while the wipers are running on dry glass (the current draw will fluctuate).

Is the lowest current draw less than the specified value?

3.5 amps

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Is the lowest current draw more than the specified value?

6.5 amps

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 5

Check for an intermittent poor connection or an open in CKTs 91, 92, 95, 143, 195, and 1350.

Is a poor connection or an open circuit present?

--

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 9

Repair the poor connection or the open.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Wiper/Washer System Check

--

1. Replace the wiper blade elements. Refer to Wiper Blade Element Replacement .
2. Repeat the current draw test.

Is the lowest current draw more than the specified value?

6.5 amps

Go to Step 8

Go to Wiper/Washer System Check

1. Disconnect the wiper transmission linkage from the wiper motor crank arm.
2. Repeat the current draw test.

Is the lowest current draw more than the specified value?

6.5 amps

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

Go to Wiper/Washer System Check

Replace or repair the binding wiper transmission as required. Refer to Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement .
