Removal Procedure
Tools Required

- Remove the wiper arms. Refer to
Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement
.
- Disconnect the hose from the washer hose.
- Remove the air inlet grille panel from the vehicle. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the transmission drive link socket from the wiper motor
crank arm using the J 39232
.
- Remove six screws from the vehicle and the transmission.
- Remove the transmission from the vehicle by guiding it out through
the plenum chamber access hole.
Installation Procedure

J 39529
- Place the transmission into the plenum
chamber by guiding it through the plenum chamber access hole.
- Pull the two transmission drive shafts up through the two holes
in the tip of the plenum chamber.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the transmission with three
screws at each transmission drive shaft.
Tighten
Tighten six screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the transmission drive link socket to the wiper motor
crank arm using the J 39529
.
Ensure that the socket is fully seated on the crank arm.
- Install the air inlet grille panel onto the vehicle. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
.
- Connect the hose to the washer hose.
- Install the wiper arms onto the transmission drive shafts. Refer
to
Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement
.
