Removal Procedure
- Remove the seat assembly. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Remove the head restraint. Refer to
Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement
.
- Remove the seatback trim cover. Refer to
Front Seat Back Trim Replacement
.
- Remove the J-channel from
the head restraint side of the seat in order to expose the seatback frame (13).
- Remove the roller assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from under the seat frame.
- Remove the 2 bolts (10).
- Back out the seatback retainer bolts (11) in order to allow
clearance for the adjuster motor wire harness connector.
- Remove the head restraint adjuster motor (5).
Installation Procedure
- Install the head restraint
adjuster motor (5).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the
head restraint adjustment motor bolts (10).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
- Apply Loctiteâ„¢ 242 (GM P/N 12345382) to the seatback
frame bolts.
Tighten the seat back retaining bolts (11).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the roller assembly.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the seat cover J-channel.
- Install the seatback trim cover. Refer to
Front Seat Back Trim Replacement

- Install the head restraint. Refer to
Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement

- Install the seat assembly. Refer to
Seat Replacement
