Front Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement Horizontal Motor

Important: Before removing seat from the vehicle position the inner seat adjuster rail even with the outer seat adjuster rail.

1. Remove the seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement .



2. Place the seat upside down on a clean protected surface.
3. Remove the front screws from the memory seat module bracket, if equipped.
4. Remove the horizontal nut cage bolts (4).
5. Remove the outer rails (3,6).
6. Remove the wiring harness to the motor.
7. Remove the wiring harness to the position sensors, if equipped with memory seats.
8. Remove the horizontal gear box fasteners (2,5).
9. Spread the rails apart in order to disengage the horizontal motor assembly.
10. Remove the drive assembly (7) by pulling upward.

Tools Required

J 36169-A Fused Jumper Wires

1. Lubricate the nylon bushings on the L bracket with grease.
2. Ensure the nut cages are both bottomed out on the horizontal drive housing and insert the drive.

If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, slide the memory seat module bracket ears into the horizontal motor bracket.

3. Insert the lead screw end into the nylon bushing.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

4. Install the fasteners (2,5) in order to secure the horizontal drive housing to the inner rail.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

5. Slide the outer rails (3,6) over the inner rails (1). Line up the horizontal nut cages with the nut brackets on the outer rails.
6. Install the nut cage fasteners (4).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

7. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, install the memory seat module bracket screws.
8. Lubricate the lead screw with grease.
9. Power the adjuster fully forward by using the J 36169-A in order to apply battery positive voltage at the beige wire pin of the horizontal drive motor connector body and battery ground to the green wire pin. Ensure that the adjuster bottoms on the housing.
10. Loosen the nut cage bolts (4) and retighten the bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

11. Power the adjuster back to full rearward position by reversing the J 36169-A connections used in the previous step. Ensure that the front end of the inner rail is even with the front end of the outer rail.
12. Connect the electrical connectors.
13. Install the seat to the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement .

When installing the seat to the vehicle, first install the outboard rail in order to avoid unparallel rails.

14. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, calibrate the seat. Refer to Memory Seat Calibration .

Front Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement Front Vertical Motor

1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
2. Place the seat on a clean protected surface.
3. Remove the seat cushion and the cover if necessary. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
4. Remove the memory seat module. Refer to Memory Seat Control Module Replacement .
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.



6. Remove the retaining washers from the pivot pins at each end of the motor assembly.
7. Remove the pivot pins.
8. Remove the front vertical adjuster motor (1).

1. Install the front vertical adjuster motor (1).
2. Install the pivot pins.
3. Install the retaining washers.
4. Connect the electrical connector.
5. Install the memory seat module. Refer to Memory Seat Control Module Replacement .
6. Install the seat cushion and the cover if necessary. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Replacement .
7. Install the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
8. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, calibrate the seat. Refer to Memory Seat Calibration .

Front Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement Rear Vertical Motor

1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
2. Place the seat on a clean protected surface.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.



4. Remove the retaining washers from the pivot pins at each end of the motor assembly.
5. Remove the pivot pins.
6. Remove the rear vertical adjuster motor (4).

1. Install the rear vertical adjuster motor (4).
2. Install the pivot pins.
3. Install the retaining washers.
4. Install the electrical connector.
5. Install the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
6. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, calibrate the seat. Refer to Memory Seat Calibration .
