Disable the dome lamp override switch.

Is the dome lamp or the door ajar indicator always on?

Go to Dome Lamps Always On

Go to Step 3

Open each door individually while observing the dome lamps.

Does the dome lamp illuminate with each door?

Go to Step 4

Go to Dome Lamps Inoperative

  1. Access the instrument panel cluster (IPC) connector.
  2. With the doors closed, back probe the door ajar indicator control circuit with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Inspect for poor connections at the IPC connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Test for a short to ground in the door ajar indicator control circuit between the multifunction alarm module and the IPC. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Replace the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
