Tools Required

1. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wiper motor.
3. Disconnect the wiper transmission from wiper motor crank arm using the J 39232 .



4. Remove the wiper drive system screws.
5. Remove the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.
6. Remove the grommets from the tube frame.



7. Remove the caps from the wiper transmission.
8. Remove the wiper transmission screws.
9. Remove the wiper transmission from the tube frame.
10. Remove the wiper motor from the tube frame. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

1. Install the wiper motor onto the tube frame. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .
2. Install the wiper transmission onto the tube frame

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install wiper transmission screws.

Tighten
Tighten the wiper transmission screws to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

4. Install the new caps onto the wiper transmission.



5. Install the grommets onto the tube frame.



6. Position the wiper drive system module onto the vehicle.
7. Install the wiper drive system module screws.

Tighten
Tighten the wiper drive system module screws to 10 N·m (88 lb in).




8. Connect the wiper transmission to the wiper motor crank arm using the J 39529 .
9. Connect the electrical connector to the wiper motor.
10. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
11. Operate the windshield wipers and inspect for proper operation.
