Inspect the RAP Fuse located in the fuse block.

Is the RAP Fuse open?

  1. Replace the RAP Fuse.
  2. Inspect the RAP Fuse again.

Is the RAP Fuse open again?

Inspect the IGN MAIN 2 MaxiFuse® located in the underhood accessory wiring junction block.

Is the IGN MAIN 2 MaxiFuse® open?

  1. Replace the IGN MAIN 2 MaxiFuse®.
  2. Inspect the IGN MAIN 2 MaxiFuse® again.

Is the IGN MAIN 2 MaxiFuse® open again?

  1. Disconnect the RAP relay.
  2. Connect a test light between the RAP relay harness connector terminal C2 and ground.

Did the test light illuminate?

Connect a 40A fused jumper between the RAP relay harness connector terminal A2 and terminal C1.

  1. Remove the 40A fused jumper from between the RAP relay harness connector terminal A2 and terminal C1.
  2. Disconnect the Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2.
  3. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the following terminals:
  4. • The BCM harness connector C2 terminal D9
    • The RAP harness connector terminal A1

Is the resistance within the specified range?

Less than 2ohms

  1. Reconnect the RAP relay.
  2. Connect a 10A fused jumper between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal D9 and ground.
  3. Test the operation of the radio and the power windows.

Do the radio and the power windows operate?

Repair the short to ground in circuit 540.

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C2 terminal D9 for a poor terminal contact. Repair as needed.
  2. If the BCM connector C2 terminal D9 is OK, then replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors/components removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM Fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle).
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position, to the OFF position, then back to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds any DTCs stored).

Are there any BCM DTCs present?

  1. Turn OFF the IP dimmer switch.
  2. Turn Of the left and the right roof rail courtesy/reading lamps.
  3. Turn OFF the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  5. While observing the interior courtesy lights, close all of the vehicle doors.

Are the interior courtesy lights OFF?

Refer to Interior Lamps System Check in Lighting, to further diagnose a condition that causes the courtesy lights to stay on, thus disengaging the RAP feature.
