  1. Lower the driver's window.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  3. Close all the doors.
  4. Press the lock on the keyless entry transmitter.
  5. Wait 10 seconds.

Is the theft deterrent indicator flashing slowly?

  1. Reach through the driver's window opening and unlock the door manually.
  2. Open the driver's door. The alarm should sound.
  3. Start the engine.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and press unlock on the keyless entry transmitter to stop the alarm.

Does the engine crank but won't start?

The engine starts due to a malfunction in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Refer to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check (3.1) or Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check (3.8) in Engine Controls.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reconnect the connectors/components removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM flashes the fasten belts indicator and sounds the chime 4 times identifying the BCM type installed on the vehicle.
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position.
  8. Turn the ignition switch back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
