  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Lower the driver's window in order to prevent lockout.
  4. Close all the vehicle doors.
  5. Observe the courtesy lights and open and close the driver's door.

Did the courtesy lights turn on with the driver's door open and turn off with the driver's door closed?

  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. Turn the ignition switch from the RUN position to the OFF position.
  4. Observe the courtesy lights and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.

Did the courtesy lights turn on when removing the key from the ignition key cylinder?

  1. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. Observe the driver's door locks and press the lock .
  4. Unlock the driver's door lock switch.
  5. Observe the passenger's door locks and press lock.
  6. Unlock the passenger door lock switch.

Do all doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch?

  1. Turn the headlamp switch IP dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder lock.
  3. Close all vehicle doors.
  4. Observe the door locks and press the lock.
  5. Unlock the buttons on the keyless entry transmitter.

Do the door locks operate when using the keyless entry transmitter?

  1. Close the rear compartment lid and latch it.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Observe the Driver Information Display (DID) or trip computer, if equipped.

Is the rear compartment lid ajar indicator off?

Inspect the sensitivity level of the shock sensor. Refer to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Circuit Description .

Is the shock sensitivity OK?

  1. Disconnect the shock sensor electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  3. Use a DMM to measure the resistance between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal D14 and ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

OL (infinite)

Perform the Content Theft Deterrent System Check again. Refer to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) System Check .

The content theft deterrent system is malfunctioning due to a malfunction between the BCM and the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Audible Warnings System Check in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  1. Leave the DMM connected (from step 9).
  2. Disconnect the rear compartment lid lock electrical connector.
  3. Use the DMM to measure the resistance again.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

OL (infinite)

  1. Inspect the BCM connectors for poor terminal contact.
  2. Make repairs as needed.
  3. If connections are OK, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the rear compartment lid lock.

Repair a short to ground in circuit 1828.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors/components removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM flashes the fasten seat belts indicator and sounds the chime 4 times identifying the BCM type installed on the vehicle.
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position.
  8. Turn the ignition switch back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
