    • The driver's door is open
    • The headlamp switch is in the PARK or the HEAD position
    • The key is removed from the ignition switch

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Lower the driver's window in order to prevent a lockout.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  5. Open and close the driver's door while observing the courtesy lights.

Do the courtesy lights turn ON with the driver's door open?

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Ensure that all of the vehicle doors are closed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to from the RUN position to the OFF position.
  4. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder while observing the courtesy lights.

Do the courtesy lights turn ON when the key is removed from the ignition key cylinder?

  1. Turn the headlamp switch to the HEAD position.
  2. Use a test light in order to probe between the BCM connector C2 terminal D5 and ground.

Is the test light off?

  1. With the test light connected, disconnect the headlamp switch electrical connector.
  2. Observe the test light.

Does the test light remain lit?

The headlamp ON reminder is inoperative due to a malfunction between the BCM and the drive's door lock ajar switch. Refer to Interior Lamps System Check in Lighting Systems.

The headlamp ON reminder is inoperative due to a malfunction between the BCM and the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Key-in-Ignition Chime Always On .

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Repair the short to B+ in circuit 1872.

Replace the headlamp switch assembly. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Install any connectors or components that were removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  7. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type that is installed on the vehicle.

  8. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position, and then back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any stored DTC's.
