Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers


    Object Number: 70049  Size: SH
  1. Carefully remove throttle body air inlet duct.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling
  3. Remove the electric cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  4. Remove the upper radiator brackets and bolts.

  6. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamps at the radiator.
  7. Disconnect the upper radiator hose.
  8. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
  9. Remove the low coolant module. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement .
  10. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to one of the following:

    •  Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T60-E
    •  Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E
  12. Remove the radiator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the radiator to the lower mounts.
  2. Connect the transaxle oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to one of the following:
  3. •  Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T60-E
    •  Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T60-E
    •  Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E
  4. Install the low coolant module. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement .
  5. Connect the upper radiator hose.
  6. Connect the lower radiator hose.
  7. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition and install the hose clamps at the radiator.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the radiator brackets and bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the electric cooling fans. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  13. Carefully install the throttle body air inlet duct.
  14. Inspect for leaks.
