Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning in the Preface section.

    Danger: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the driver side front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 1949926  Size: SH
  4. Remove and discard the stabiliser bar link to stabiliser bar retaining nut (1).
  5. Disconnect the stabiliser bar link (2) from the stabiliser bar (3).
  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the opposite side of the stabiliser bar.

  7. Object Number: 2144698  Size: SH
  8. Loosen the tie rod end to steering knuckle retaining nut (1) about two turns.

  9. Object Number: 2144701  Size: SH
  10. Using J-42188-B  (1) disconnect the driver side tie rod end (3) from the steering knuckle (2).

  11. Object Number: 2144704  Size: SH
  12. Remove and discard the driver side tie rod end to steering knuckle retaining nut (1).
  13. Separate the driver side tie rod end (3) from the steering knuckle (2).

  14. Object Number: 1957166  Size: SH
  15. Remove the air inlet duct.
  16. • For 3.6L engine refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement.
    • For 6.0L engine refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement.
  17. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe bracket to subframe retaining bolt (2).
  18. Remove the power steering gear outlet pipe bracket to subframe retaining bolt (1).
  19. Remove the stabliser bar insulators from the stabiliser bar. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement.
  20. Remove the stabiliser bar from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications in the Preface section.

  1. Install the NEW stabilizer bar to the vehicle.
  2. Install the stabilizer bar insulators. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1957166  Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe bracket to the subframe retaining bolt (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
  5. Install the power steering gear outlet pipe bracket to the subframe retaining bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb ft).
  6. Install the air inlet duct.
  7. • For 3.6L engine refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement.
    • For 6.0L engine refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement.

  8. Connect the stabiliser bar link (2) to the NEW stabiliser bar (3).
  9. Install the stabilizer bar link to the stabilizer bar retaining nut (1) and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
  10. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the opposite side of the stabiliser bar.

  11. Object Number: 1949935  Size: SH
  12. Install the driver side tie rod end (3) to the steering knuckle (2).
  13. Install the NEW driver side tie rod end to steering knuckle retaining nut (1) and tighten to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).
  14. Install the front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
