Rear Energy Absorber Replacement Chevrolet

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 368252  Size: MH
  3. Remove the energy absorber bolts.
  4. Remove the energy absorber from the impact bar (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 368252  Size: MH
  1. Install the rear bumper energy absorber.
  2. Position the hole at the center of the rear bumper energy absorber over the locating boss (1) at the center of the rear bumper impact bar (2).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the energy absorber bolts.
  4. Install the bolts at the center of the energy absorber and work outboard.

    Tighten
    Tighten the energy absorber bolts to 5.5 N·m (49 lb in).

  5. Install the rear fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 368254  Size: MH
  3. Remove the energy absorber rivets using a drill bit.
  4. Remove the energy absorber bolts.
  5. Remove the energy absorber from the impact bar (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 368254  Size: MH
  1. Install the rear bumper energy absorber.
  2. Position the hole at the center of the rear bumper energy absorber over the locating boss (1) at the center of the rear bumper impact bar (2).

  3. Install the energy absorber bolts.
  4. Install the bolts at the center of the energy absorber and work outboard.

    Tighten
    Tighten the energy absorber bolts to 5.5 N·m (49 lb in).

  5. Snap the absorber attachment into the slots in the fascia support bracket.
  6. Install the energy absorber rivets.
